OJOKORO LCDA PARTNERS WITH LAGOS STATE COOPERATIVE COLLEGE TO EMPOWER YOUTHS AND INDIGENT RESIDENTS

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area Lagos, Nigeria, Hon. (Barr.) Rosiji Adenike, hosted the Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the council secretariat to foster collaboration aimed at empowering youths and indigent residents through educational initiatives. The meeting served as a platform to highlight the ongoing commitment of both institutions to shaping a brighter future for the community.

During the event, Dr. Walid Adebosin, Acting Provost of LASCOCO, expressed gratitude to the LCDA for its previous support, particularly in awarding scholarships to indigent students. He emphasized the importance of education in transforming lives and listed the diploma courses offered by the institution, along with the certificates that students would earn upon completion as well as skill up programs in various skill acquisition. Dr. Adebosin described the college’s programs as accessible, affordable, and beneficial for individuals of all ages, encouraging more residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

Hon. Rosiji Adenike reiterated her administration’s commitment to advancing education and pledged to actively support LASCOCO’s initiatives. She urged the institution to increase publicity for its programs, ensuring that more residents especially the youths are aware of the opportunities available. “This program is excellent for both young and old, and admission into the institution is very easy. We will work together to ensure its success for the benefit of our community,” she stated.

The Council Manager, Mrs. Mojisola Abeni Akinola, further buttressed the importance of education in driving community and national development. She encouraged LASCOCO to leverage the Community Development Committee (CDC) to reach grassroots residents and raise awareness about the programs. “Education is the backbone of progress, and ensuring wider publicity through grassroots engagement will help us achieve greater impact,” she said.

Highlighting the collaborative spirit of the event, Hon (Barr.) Oluyemisi Rosiji was honoured with an award from LASCOCO in recognition of her outstanding contributions and commitment to community development. The gesture reflected the institution’s appreciation for the LCDA’s efforts in fostering growth and empowerment.

Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, has reiterated her administration’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability during a meeting with Net-Zero, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) focused on addressing modern environmental challenges. The meeting, held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the council secretariat, marked a significant step forward in the council’s efforts to promote sustainable practices and improve waste management.

Hon. Rosiji commended Net-Zero for its two-year collaboration with Ojokoro LCDA, noting the NGO’s vital role in raising environmental awareness and implementing practical solutions to waste disposal issues. She emphasized that partnerships like this are essential to building a cleaner and healthier community for residents. “Environmental sustainability is not just a necessity; it is the foundation for a better future. Collaborations like ours with Net-Zero pave the way for innovative solutions that benefit everyone,” she said.

A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement of plans to establish a Recycling Hub within Ojokoro LCDA. Hon. Rosiji explained that the hub would serve multiple purposes, including improving waste recycling, providing environmental education, creating job opportunities, and empowering the youth. She added that the project would position Ojokoro as a model for sustainable development across Lagos State. “This initiative will not only address environmental challenges but also drive economic growth and community empowerment,” she stated.

Mrs. Titilayo Akisa, a representative of Net-Zero, praised Barr. Rosiji’s forward-thinking leadership and pledged the organization’s continued support for impactful environmental projects in Ojokoro and beyond. “Barr. Rosiji’s vision and dedication to sustainability inspire us to do more. Together, we can achieve remarkable progress in creating a greener and cleaner future,” Akisa remarked.

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has welcomed a visit from the Forward Operating Base, led by Commander Bukata Clement Bulus, as part of efforts to bridge the gap between the military and local communities. According to the Media Office of the Executive Chairman, the meeting aimed to strengthen civil-military relations and build public trust.


During the visit, Hon. Olowa expressed his administration’s commitment to collaboration, highlighting past successful relationships with security agencies. “Security is a joint effort,” he emphasized, leaving his door open for advice and guidance. Commander Bulus thanked the chairman for the warm reception, affirming the base’s commitment to supporting the local government and its citizens. An award plaque was also presented to Hon. The Executive Chairman of Iru Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos Nigeria, Hon. Aminat Oluwakemi Alabi, has commended Capital Fields Investment Group Limited for its commitment to community development through strategic support to the LCDA's healthcare sector. This was disclosed in a press release made available by Mrs. Rotimi Bolanle, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Council.


According to the press release, Capital Fields Investment Group Limited demonstrated its dedication to giving back to society by donating a 7.5 KVA solar system inverter to the Primary Health Centre in the Council. This initiative ensures uninterrupted power supply, enabling the smooth operation of healthcare services. Additionally, the company extended support to maternal health by donating relief items to expectant mothers and cash gifts to new mothers within the community.

The Managing Directors of Capital Fields, Mrs. Ugochi Nnodi and Mr. Adekunle Ademiluyi, emphasized that the initiative reflects the company's commitment to improving the welfare of residents. The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the generosity and goodwill shown by the donors.

Represented by the Vice Chairman, Prince Murisiku Olatunji Ajasa, Hon. Alabi reaffirmed the Council's readiness to continue partnering with well-meaning organizations to enhance the quality of life for residents of Iru Victoria Island LCDA.

The event which was hosted the Medical Officer of Health of the Council Dr. Oladipupo Simiat was attended by other management staff of the LCDA, health workers, community leaders, and dignitaries from the community, highlighting the significance of the partnership.

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Lagos Nigeria, Hon. Barr. Rosiji Oluyemisi, has expressed her enthusiasm for a proposed partnership with the Lion Charity Club, a humanitarian organization dedicated to uplifting communities across Lagos. The club's delegation, led by President Lion Kasit Muler Ganiyu, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Rosiji on August 19, 2025, to discuss potential collaboration in community development initiatives.


The club unveiled there plans which includes:

- Sanitary Toilet Facilities: Construction of modern toilet facilities in public schools to enhance hygiene and health standards

-Youth Empowerment Program: Launch of a youth empowerment program on August 26th, featuring skill acquisition, small-scale business support, and farming initiatives

-Eye Care Services: Distribution of 1,000 free eye glasses and provision of free cataract surgeries for residents in need

Hon. Rosiji praised the Lion Charity Club's humanitarian efforts, noting that their mission aligns with her administration's vision to deliver impactful projects to the Ojokoro community. "Your work, both globally and locally, is inspiring. I welcome this partnership wholeheartedly," she stated. The chairman also affirmed the council's commitment to collaborating with the Lions on future projects, with a focus on building a strong relationship that delivers lasting impact.
