In a bold move to democratize access to education and empower the youth, Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, has distributed 300 free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to indigent students in the council area. This initiative, according to a press release from the Public Affairs Unit of the LCDA, is part of the council's efforts to bridge the educational gap and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
The distribution event, which took place at the Multipurpose Hall of the Secretariat, was the culmination of a 2-Day Screening Exercise that identified eligible candidates. Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, while presenting the forms to the beneficiaries, emphasized the importance of education in transforming lives and the community. She pledged that her administration has many more educational programs in the pipeline, aimed at lifting the youths and strengthening the educational foundation of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
The council boss noted that the gesture is designed to ease the financial burdens of parents and guardians, adding that as a mother, she understands the weight of nurturing a child's dream. "This initiative is not just about academics, it is about lightening the burdens of families and giving every child a fair chance to succeed," she said.
Hon. Abubakar appealed to the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity wisely, stressing that the forms handed over to them are investments in their future. She urged them to put in enough effort to succeed and make Agboyi-Ketu proud.
The event was attended by notable personalities, including the LGA Chairman, Hon. Odekomaya Lateef; former Sole Administrator, Hon. Tunji Ilelaboye; CDC Chairman, Engr. Badejo; and the Youth Leader for Agboyi-Ketu branch, Comrade Funmilayo Joseph. They all commended the Executive Chairman for the laudable gesture and advised the beneficiaries to be focused and make the best use of the opportunity.
