OJOKORO LCDA CHAIRMAN - ROSIJI URGES PUBLIC TO PARTICIPATE IN ONGOING VOTERS REGISTRATION EXERCISE

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos Nigeria, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Rosiji, in a press release made available to the public by the Public Affairs Unit, has called on members of the public to participate in the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise. According to her, this is a crucial opportunity for citizens to be part of the government and have their voices heard in the democratic process.

The Chairman emphasized that voter registration is a fundamental right and a civic duty that enables individuals to shape the future of their communities and the nation at large. She encouraged all eligible citizens who have not yet registered to take advantage of this exercise to enroll and exercise their franchise.

The ongoing voters registration exercise, according to the Chairman, is an avenue for citizens to ensure their voices are counted and that their votes contribute to the election of leaders who will drive development and progress in their communities. She noted that the success of the exercise depends on active participation from the public.

The LCDA Chairman further highlighted the importance of inclusive governance and the role that every registered voter plays in shaping the direction of the country. She urged residents of Ojokoro LCDA to seize this opportunity to register and become part of the governance process, stressing that every vote matters.

In the press release, the Chairman appealed to the public to visit https://cvrinecnigeria.org for pre-registration and any INEC office, LGA including Ojokoro LCDA  for physical registration. She noted that the registration covers various categories of people, including:

 New Registration: For persons who have turned 18 years after the last registration; 

Transfer of Voting Point: For voters seeking to transfer their registration to new locations; 

Information Update: For people who need to update or correct their voter information; 

Lost, Defaced, or Damaged Cards: For individuals requiring replacement of lost, defaced, or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs)

She assured that the council is committed to supporting the registration process and ensuring that all eligible citizens can participate freely. 

The Chairman also called on community leaders, traditional institutions, and civil society organizations to collaborate in sensitizing the public about the importance of voter registration and encouraging participation. She expressed optimism that with collective efforts, the exercise would be a success and lay the foundation for a more inclusive and representative government.

OJOKORO LCDA CHAIRMAN PUSHES FOR GRASSROOTS ICT SOLUTIONS AT INEC VOTER REGISTRATION STAKEHOLDERS' MEETING 

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has called for the strategic deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support to enhance voter registration processes at the grassroots level for illiterates. She made this appeal during the Stakeholders’ Meeting on Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) held at the INEC Office, Ifako-Ijaye, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

Addressing participants, Hon. Rosiji commended INEC for its efforts in facilitating the CVR exercise and emphasized the need for innovative solutions to improve accessibility for illiterate residents. “ICT is the future of voter registration. By deploying technology support effectively across local councils, particularly in areas like Ifako-Ijaye and Ojokoro, we can ensure flexibility and seamless online registration for our communities,” she stated. She also urged INEC to address issues of blurred voter cards in the ongoing exercise to ensure ease of use during election.

Earlier, the Electoral Officer (EO) of Ifako-Ijaye Local Government, Mrs Adebanjo, in her welcome address,  emphasized the importance of voter registration as the foundation of credible elections.

She appealed to stakeholders to mobilize members of their communities to take advantage of the CVR exercise by registering, transferring, or updating their voter information as it applies to them.

Other stakeholders present also shared useful insights  in tackling issues facing progress in the ongoing exercise, such as being prompt, delays in the exercise and proposed practical solutions, including the establishment of desks per ward to ease the workload and the increase of electoral personnel and machines to ensure timely processing and readiness of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) within a specified period.

They further commended INEC for the initiative while pledging their support to mobilize citizens, sensitize communities for their participation in the ongoing CVR exercise.

The meeting, which brought together traditional rulers, religious leaders, political parties, security agencies, market associations, youth groups, and civil society organizations, served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss challenges and propose solutions. Hon. Rosiji expressed optimism that collaborative efforts would yield significant improvements in voter registration outcomes.

Reiterating her administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, Hon. Rosiji urged residents of Ojokoro community to seize this opportunity to register, update, or transfer their voter information.

The stakeholders’ meeting ended with a collective call to action, emphasizing the importance of participation in the CVR exercise to uphold Nigeria’s democratic values.
