In a significant victory for local traders, Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Barr.) Rosiji Oluyemisi Adenike, has enforced a directive from the Lagos State House of Assembly to resolve the contentious Abattoir Meat Market land dispute, bringing relief to the business community.

Acting on a mandate from Hon. Olotu Emmanuel, Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Rosiji oversaw the immediate removal of "trespassing" signage at the market, paving the way for proper documentation and regularization of market occupancy without fear of intimidation or unlawful eviction.

Addressing elated traders, Hon. Rosiji gave unequivocal assurances that neither contractors nor the Lagos State Agricultural Land Holding Authority would be allowed to forcefully remove or harass market occupants. "The House of Assembly has spoken," she declared. "As Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, I will ensure these directives are obeyed to the letter. No one will disrupt your livelihoods." She stressed no structures would be demolished, urging traders to continue their legitimate businesses fearlessly. 

Under Hon. Rosiji's supervision, the trespass signboards were taken down alongside Divisional Police Officer of Abattoir, SP Shade Akeem, and Council Engineer Mr. Ope G.O. The Chairman encouraged market leaders and shop owners to reach out to her office promptly if they face harassment or threats, reiterating her administration's commitment to defending constituents' rights lawfully and peacefully.

As the signboards came down, traders broke into applause and expressions of gratitude, hailing the move as a bold and compassionate intervention by a servant-leader. The resolution has injected hope and clarity into the previously embattled business community, showcasing Hon. Rosiji's dedication to protecting traders' interests in Ojokoro LCDA.

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Barr.) Adenike Oluyemisi Rosiji, has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to accelerate development within the council area. She made this call on Thursday, September 4, 2025, while welcoming participants to a constituency town hall meeting convened by Hon. Olotu Emmanuel, the representative of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In her remarks, Hon. Rosiji stressed the importance of participatory democracy and collective responsibility in driving sustainable development. She commended Hon. Olotu for his unwavering commitment to engaging constituents and bringing governance closer to the people. The Chairman further urged all stakeholders to make meaningful contributions during the deliberations, stressing that their insights are vital to the growth and prosperity of the community.

The meeting brought together a cross-section of key figures, including traditional rulers, party leaders, legislative council members, and residents of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II. It provided an avenue to review ongoing progress and set a new agenda for the constituency’s continued development. Hon. Delivering the message of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Hon. Olotu Emmanuel highlighted the positive impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of economic reforms, infrastructure, security, and digital innovation. He also praised Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership and transformative infrastructural projects across the state.

Speaker Obasa, through his address, reiterated the importance of collaborative governance, noting that the Lagos State House of Assembly has passed over 467 resolutions as part of its commitment to legislative excellence. He assured constituents that the Assembly remains focused on advancing policies that will enhance the welfare of Lagosians and strengthen the state’s position as a model of good governance.

The town hall meeting, held concurrently across the 40 constituencies of Lagos State, offered constituents a platform to share their ideas, needs, and challenges directly with their representatives for consideration in future legislative actions.
