 TEARS BEFORE THE GOVERNOR: HUSBAND OF ABDUCTED PRINCIPAL MAKES EMOTIONAL PLEA FOR WIFE'S FREEDOM

An atmosphere of grief and anguish enveloped Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State as the husband of abducted school principal, Mrs. Alamu, broke down in tears while pleading for urgent action to secure her release and that of other kidnapped victims.

The emotional moment occurred during Governor Seyi Makinde's visit to the community following the shocking abduction of teachers and students by armed gunmen.

Struggling to hold back tears, the distraught husband passionately appealed to the governor to intensify rescue efforts, expressing fears over the safety and well-being of his wife and the other captives still in the hands of their abductors.


“I am begging the government to do everything possible to bring them back safely,” he pleaded, drawing sympathy from residents and officials present at the scene.

The kidnapping occurred when gunmen invaded several schools in the Esiele community, including Community High School, Esiele, abducting teachers and students in a brazen attack that has sent shockwaves across Oyo State.

The incident has continued to spark widespread concern and condemnation, with residents, community leaders, and Nigerians from different walks of life calling for swift security intervention, the safe return of all victims, and stronger measures to protect schools and communities from criminal attacks.

ORILE ALAGBADO CELEBRATES HERITAGE, UNITY AT COLOURFUL SECOND OJUDE OBA FESTIVAL

The ancient town of Orile Alagbado was awash with colour, culture, and celebration on Saturday as residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, and guests from different parts of Lagos State gathered for the Second Edition of the Ojude Oba Festival in honour of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeshoga Williams Adeyoola (Tomia I).

The festival, which has rapidly become a major cultural event within Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, showcased the rich traditions, history, and communal spirit of the people of Orile Alagbado.

The event attracted a large turnout of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, high chiefs, political office holders, religious leaders, market associations, youth groups, and community stakeholders who came to celebrate the monarch and reaffirm their commitment to the growth and unity of the community.

Guests were treated to vibrant cultural performances, traditional processions, music, dances, and goodwill messages that highlighted the beauty and diversity of Yoruba cultural heritage.


Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, described the festival as a remarkable platform for promoting cultural preservation, peaceful coexistence, and community development. She commended Oba Adeshoga Williams Adeyoola (Tomia I) for his leadership and contributions to the peace and progress of Orile Alagbado.

Observers noted that beyond the colourful displays, the festival also served as a platform for strengthening social bonds and promoting economic activities within the community, with traders, artisans, entertainers, and local businesses benefiting from the large turnout.


As drums echoed through the town and cultural groups thrilled spectators with captivating performances, the celebration reinforced the importance of preserving cultural heritage while fostering unity and development among the people.

Many participants expressed optimism that the Ojude Oba Festival would continue to grow in prominence, further positioning Orile Alagbado as a centre of cultural pride and community advancement within Lagos State.

An Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and a proud member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), John has consistently demonstrated excellence in communication, public engagement, and leadership.

Currently serving as a Public Affairs Officer with the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, stationed at Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, he has earned admiration for his professionalism, creativity, and proactive approach to service delivery.
