HON. ROSIJI COMMENDS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AS HOPE INITIATIVE DISTRIBUTES ₦75,000 GRANTS TO VULNERABLE FAMILIES IN OJOKORO

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Lagos Nigera Hon. (Barr.) Adenike Oluyemisi Rosiji, has praised the Federal Government for the rollout of the Household Prosperity Empowerment (HOPE) Initiative, which delivered ₦75,000 cash grants to vulnerable households in the area. The distribution ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Ojokoro LCDA Secretariat, marking another plus in efforts to alleviate poverty and strengthen grassroots development.

The programme, implemented in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction,  the National Cash Transfer Office, the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, the Lagos State Cash Transfer Office, and the World Bank, targeted beneficiaries selected from the National Social Register (NSR) — a comprehensive database identifying poor and vulnerable households across Nigeria.

Each beneficiary received a customized ATM card preloaded with ₦75,000, providing immediate financial relief amid the economic challenges following the removal of fuel subsidy. The initiative also aims to foster human capacity development and empower recipients to improve their livelihoods sustainably.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Rosiji expressed deep gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and its partnering agencies for their dedication to empowering communities at the grassroots level. She emphasized the importance of utilizing the funds responsibly, noting that the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to uplift Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations.

“The HOPE Initiative is not just financial support; it is a lifeline to empower families, restore dignity, and build resilience in Ojokoro,” Hon. Rosiji stated. She further encouraged residents to seize the opportunity offered by the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to obtain or replace their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), urging them to actively participate in governance. “Your PVC is your voice in government,” she added.

The event drew widespread appreciation from beneficiaries, who commended the Federal Government and the LCDA leadership for prioritizing their welfare and delivering impactful solutions to economic hardship. With this intervention, Ojokoro LCDA continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering inclusive development and empowering its residents for a brighter future.
